Surgery 2018

On December 18, 2018 I had a 9cm lipoma removed from my neck! My parents flew to Raleigh, North Carolina from New Mexico for the surgery. Having them by my side helped keep me calm and helped reassure that everything was going to be okay!

The surgery went better than we all expected. I was supposed to stay overnight in the hospital with a drain in my neck to make sure fluids didn’t try to fill the space where the lipoma was. Praise God that there was no blood supply to my lipoma, and I was able to go home after my surgery! My surgeon said that was the best news that we could have gotten. My scar is about three inches long and it’s in one of the creases of my neck, so it is concealed pretty darn good!

Recovery was easier than I thought it would be, also. The nurses told me that I should gently move my neck each day so that I didn’t become stiff! A few days after surgery, my parents and I went on a mile and a half walk and it felt so nice to get out of the house. We took it nice and slow because I was still sore, but it was so worth it! Being able to move and be outdoors was so nice and refreshing. I feel blessed that I was able to get out and do things!

I am so thankful that my family was able to join me in Raleigh for the holidays. My little brother, mom, and dad were all there and it was such a blessed Christmas. We were all happy and healthy for Christmas and that was the best present of all!

Thank you to everyone who prayed and wished me well. I am forever grateful for all of the support I received!

Until next time,
